Where to get 1099 Forms

Where to get 1099 Forms

With the deadline for sending 1099 forms to recipients is less than 3 weeks away, many business filers are asking the question “Where can I get 1099 forms?”

There are a number of places to get 1099 forms:

Option # 1:

Use 1099 software that can print all recipient and payer copies on regular paper, this way you will only need the red forms that need to be send to the IRS. Some vendors sell what they call a “1099 Kit” that includes the software for printing and the red forms that need to be sent to the IRS. You can use W2 Mate software from Real Business Solutions; they offer the software, forms and kit.

Option # 2:

You can get the forms free from the IRS. Although this might seem the best option since it’s free, this is not always the case. With the deadline only less than 3 weeks away, it’s hard to get these forms in time. The forms are hard to print on, in many cases you will need a typewriter (who has one), since the forms are not easy to align and print on using a computer printer. To get free forms from the IRS call 1-800-829-3676.

Option # 3:

You can get the forms in office supplies stores such as Staples and Office Depot. This is a viable solution, however most of the time they sell the forms and not the software to print on them.
